K3DSurf – added 11/10/2008

K3DSurf is a surface generator software to visualize and manipulate mathematical models in three, four, five and six dimensions. K3DSurf supports Parametric equations and Isosurfaces.

Minos – added 4/2/2008

Minos is a 3D solid CAD modeling software that extends the capabilities of your existing 2D-or 3D-wireframe-based systems, so you can take advantage of all the benefits solid modeling offers right away and makes it easy to design 3D parts and assemblies. You can combine the 3D shapes you create with standard primitive shapes like boxes, cylinders, and cones to form more complex geometry. Basic shape building and editing operations include cut, fuse, and common. With just a few simple commands, Minos lets you create parts using shapes, and build complete assemblies using multiple parts.

Greenfish Relief Map Generator – added 12/10/2007

Greenfish Relief Map Generator utility generates random images which resemble real relief maps. The randomized maps contain settlements with random names, hills, plains, lakes and seasides. The program can generate random town names (which are fictious and do not exist anywhere), or pick them randomly from a provided text file. The generated images are public domain and can be used anywhere.

Faceworx – added 11/28/2007

Faceworx is a free Software which creates a 3D head out of two standard 2D photos. You need two well illuminated pictures; one from the front (mugshot style) and one from the side. The software demands some skills in placing reference points and marking the contours of the face; mouth, nose, ears and eyes. The final 3D portrait can be saved and exported in the well known OBJ format.

K-3D – added 11/27/2006

K-3D is a free 3d modeling, animation, and rendering software that features a robust, object oriented plugin architecture, designed to scale to the needs of professional artists. It is designed from the ground up to generate motion picture quality animation using RenderMan compliant render engines.

Surface Explorer 3D – added 5/22/2006

Surface Explorer 3D plots mathematical surfaces in 3D. User defined surface equations can be explicit, implicit, or parametric. Surface and color equations are specified by user. Can export to clipboard, VRML, POV, DXF, printer. C++ source code included.

My3DEngine – added 5/18/2006

My3DEngine is a simple application for creating, editing and viewing 3D objects. It allows full editing/saving/loading/importing of objects, detailed view control and some relatively simple lighting effects. Its beautiful, intuitive ‘point-and-click’ interface allows rapid and accurate production of complex objects to become second nature.

Google SketchUp – added 5/3/2006

Google SketchUp (free) is an easy-to-learn 3D modeling program that enables you to explore the world in 3D. With just a few simple tools, you can create 3D models of houses, sheds, decks, home additions, woodworking projects – even space ships. And once you’ve built your models, you can place them in Google Earth, post them to the 3D Warehouse, or print hard copies.

OpenFX – added 2/20/2006

OpenFX is an Open-Source 3D modeling, animation and rendering suite; a powerful feature-set includes a full renderer and raytrace engine, NURBS support, kinematics-based animation, morphing, and an extensive plugin API.

Wings 3D – added 9/28/2005

Wings 3D is a subdivision modeler which can assign materials, vertex color, UV coordinates and textures.
