Atol provides a cross platform, dual panel file manager written using GTK+ toolkit and C++ programming language. It is a simple, but powerful file manager with support for achiver plugins (.zip, .tar, .gz, .bz2, .arj, .rar, .lst), file search, bookmarks, file hash calculation, file encryption/decryption using strong blowfish algorithm, integrated FTP/SFTP client, multilanguage support, and file split and merge support.


FileCommander – added 10/24/2005

FileCommander works as a very powerful file manager with lots of tools in it such as file splitting, file synchronization, process list, detailed system reports. You can customize many aspects of the program, including user tools. Several fast preview modes like text preview, audio preview, picture preview help you view your files very quickly. It has lots of more features then the standard explorer.


XPlorer – added 10/21/2005

XPlorer offers a substitute for the Windows Explorer, adding multi tabbed features. So it is possible to have lots of locations opened at the same time, while we can manage them in an easy and eficient way.


PowerDesk – added 8/24/2005

A Windows Explorer replacement, PowerDesk, with its dual pane interface, quick launch bar, integrated zip funcition, and powerful file management tools is provided free. (v5.0 is the last free version of PowerDesk)


FileMap – added 7/12/2005

FileMap lets you take control of the growing number of files on your system by making record lists of those in the Windows, the System, and the C:\ root directories so you can constantly check what has been added (or removed).


muCommander – added 10/16/2004

muCommander gives one a cross-platform file manager featuring a Norton Commander style interface and running on any operating system with Java support


File Type Manager – added 9/20/2004

File Type Manager allows you to manage Windows file types, actions and shell extensions. It offers far more functionality than similar programs or the built-in Windows tool.


FileAnt – added 07/16/2004

FileAnt Windows File Manager (like explorer) on tabs (like UltraEdit-32), is also a cool Ftp Client (like leechftp) and has nice features such as folder pie charts, and a viewer for commonly used file formats. It loads quickly from the tray and uses very little memory to achieve what it does. The Ftp Client is multi-download (you can keep browsing while downloading lots of files). The Pie Chart features 2D telescopic browsing. Advanced tools let you modify file dates, sync folders, and change file attributes en masse. There is also a nice little mp3 player in the tray.


Turbo Navigator – added 6/7/2004

Turbo Navigator – a advanced, highly customisable file manager for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000. It works as Windows Explorer but with one main difference: it uses two file panels, as in Symantec’s Norton Commander, a well known commercial file manager for DOS and Windows.


Servant Salamander – added 5/29/2004

Servant Salamander offers us the last free version of an excellent free file manager for Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, and XP. Nice that they still offer this version which has features like: two independent panels with directory listings, internal viewer for up to 2 GB files with text and hex modes, and easy handling even with files over 4 GB.
